Fear of Change | Real talk

P. S. *

I think this real talk series is growing to be one of my favourites, because it gives me the space to be myself, connect and engage with the readers as well as write without much limitations, hence also letting me be consistent with the blog.

One thing that I keep coming back to is the fact that I’m not satisfied with what goes on to the blog. Call it the critic or perfectionist in me. I’ve however, after much brainstorming and advice realised that what I am right now is a different version of who I’m becoming. And as we’re all changing, we need to accept our past, mediocre or not self for who it is. We need to show the same love and affection for the unevolved self as we do to the one that is mature. We’ll always be a work in progress and putting out in the world, the flawed, imperfect writings and art are only proof that practice makes things better. I don’t think there’s ever going to be a perfect something because we are ever changing, garnering fresh, new perspective, learning, unlearning, re-learning things as we go through life. This post is my attempt to connect with you all and gain more perspective on how it’s Okay at times to put our good enough work, instead of withholding, waiting for that perfect to happen. I also believe that some of it might stem from control issues, in my case and some out of the fear of people perceiving and judging you and having a set perception of you in their mind. I want to emphathetically reiterate, that those who’ll be a part of your journey will notice your growth and acknowledge and accept as you change and grow into something beautiful. They’ll give you the creative liberty to be you and see you for all that potential you have within you waiting to unleash.

I would like to hear your views on this. Anything and everything is welcome. Let’s have a discourse on change, how it limits us, how it helps us grow and how it should be welcomed, since it’s the only constant.

*P. S. The picture shared here, is the one I’ve thought of getting tattooed, someday. Since it speaks to me on so many levels and is a good reminder of how I shouldn’t fear change.

  1. Beautiful post, I have long thought of getting tattooed but I found nothing that I felt strongly about but this symbol is one thing I can think about. You have composed a wonderful post around it. I loved the lines of accepting our unevolved us, as it often refrains me to get hold of better things out there, my past mistakes come and haunt me, but you made it so simple out here. Good going👍❤️

    1. Exactly right? I mean while we shouldn’t let the past define us that’s what makes us who we are today and our attempt at self love falls headfirst if we don’t accept our past. So I believe that’s a good place to start the journey of self love. Also I’m really glad you like the image, I think it’s quite simple and yet profound. It also give Avicii vibes which is all the more cooler. 😀

  2. Wonderful post. It’s okay to be somebody else on other days, it gives us a chance to see our other self. We don’t need to care what others think of it at that particular time. The people who are with you will only cherish your other self and acknowledge your growth points. Loved the image of unclosed delta and it’s meaning. Tattoos have deep meanings within them! ❤️❤️

  3. Right…
Accepting and embracing what you are is the first step towards self improvement…it is only once we accept ourselves the way we are only than we can bring in the change we desire…
    Well expressed as always .
    Stay blessed 🙏😇
